About Yung Kai
Yung Kai (Max Zhang) is a Chinese-Canadian singer-songwriter and producer originally from Burnaby, British Columbia. Raised in Shanghai and Vancouver, he emerged as a powerful voice in modern indie and bedroom pop, known for emotionally cinematic ballads.
His breakout single Blue went viral in 2024, inspired by Asian dramas and his own experiences with heartbreak and healing. His music blends soft piano melodies with lo-fi textures and heartfelt storytelling, reminiscent of artists like Laufey, Wave to Earth, and Keshi.
Yung Kai creates from his bedroom studio, writing and producing everything himself. In just a short time, he’s cultivated a global fanbase and has been featured at festivals like Wanderland and 88rising's Head in the Clouds. His debut album is expected in late 2025.
